Art
Ambition
Art at Pineham Barns, provides all children with the opportunity to develop their creative flair through a progressive and engaging curriculum. Through the development of their skills, pupils are able to engage with different mediums through a variety of different creative themes. To support their learning further, pupil’s regularly collaborate with different artists to enhance their love of Art, providing each and every child with memorable and fun learning experiences.
Art is implemented as part of each year groups’ curriculum topics and focuses on progressing the key skills required to develop as an artist. These are:
- Fine Art – painting and drawing
- Collage and Textile
- Printing
- 3D Art – sculpting and moulding
- Photography
- Artist Study
In order to allow staff to implement art in an engaging and purposeful manner, we focus on developing artistic skills and related knowledge within the context of a wider curriculum topic.
Therefore, each skill has a progressive set of skills and knowledge that can be selected to enhance and support the learning in their current curriculum topic. Staff track and monitor the progress their class makes through each artistic skill to ensure that year on year the children’s learning covers a variety of skills that progress from the previous year.
A progressive skill-based curriculum also enables staff to further challenge or support children where necessary to ensure all children have personal learning journeys to encourage their best artistic outcomes.
Impact
Through the rich experiences provided at Pineham Barns, our children are immersed in an environment that emphasises the importance of Art and creativity. We believe that the experiences and skills we provide our children with in Art, gives them the creative edge for the future.
