Design Technology
Ambition
It is our ambition that our work in this area allows children to apply their learning from other areas of the curriculum to develop, create and build their skills in Design and Technology.
It is through this work we hope to inspire enthusiasm and future interests.
Implementation
Our progressive curriculum builds each year to utilise previous knowledge to support the development of new skills.
The main areas of work are broken down in the following three areas:
- Developing, planning and communicating ideas
- Working with tools, equipment, materials and components to make quality products
- Evaluating processes and products
We are incredibly fortunate to have a dedicated Design and Technology room which we take full advantage of. We also provide our children with key cookery skills as part of this element of the curriculum and equip them with the knowledge and skills to understand health and wellbeing.
Impact
Our pupils leave Pineham Barns equipped with key design and technology skills as well as key life skills and an understanding of the foundations for cookery. Through the experiences and opportunities we offer we provide children with the enthusiasm and curiosity for the next phase of their education.
