Ambition
It is our ambition that our work in this area allows children to apply their learning from other areas of the curriculum to develop, create and build their skills in Design and Technology.
It is through this work we hope to inspire enthusiasm and future interests.
Implementation
Our progressive curriculum builds year on year, enabling pupils to draw upon prior knowledge to develop new skills. It is designed to be accessible to all learners, ensuring every child can engage fully and succeed.
Learning is structured around three key areas: developing, planning and communicating ideas; working with tools, equipment, materials and components to create quality products; and evaluating processes and outcomes.
We are fortunate to have a dedicated Design and Technology room, which enhances practical learning experiences. In addition, pupils develop essential cookery skills, gaining the knowledge and understanding needed to support health and wellbeing.
Impact
Our pupils leave Pineham Barns equipped with key Design and Technology skills alongside essential life skills and a secure understanding of the foundations of cookery. Through the rich experiences and opportunities we provide, children grow in confidence, develop independence and thrive as creative learners. These experiences nurture enthusiasm and curiosity, ensuring pupils are well prepared and motivated for the next phase of their education.
