Early Years Curriculum
Children in Early Years are fully immersed in creative, engaging and explorative learning experiences that foster a lifelong love of learning.
Our themed curriculum encourages the children to problem solve, experiment and take an active role in learning, taking advantage of neighbouring woodland further enables us to enrich learning experiences.
Centring around a theme, our rich curriculum provides a wide range of indoor and outdoor opportunities for children to develop physically, academically and mentally. Throughout their Early Years journey, children build their foundational knowledge and understanding, supporting their future learning and helping them thrive as they move through school.
Implementation
Reading and phonics is central to Early Years. Daily phonics sessions, individual reading and class story time give our children the very best start. Both indoor and outdoor classrooms are rich in language to help widen vocabulary while frequent visits to the Reading Garden, reading buddies and many other creative reading opportunities help create a love for reading.
Literacy and Maths learning opportunities are embedded throughout the curriculum, ensuring children develop the foundational skills they need in early writing and mathematical understanding. Both indoor and outdoor learning spaces are designed to build strong early knowledge of number, shape and key literacy concepts. Children also have access to dedicated Literacy and Maths huts, enabling them to independently explore, practise and develop these skills as part of their everyday learning.
Fortnightly Welly Walks enrich the children’s experiences by providing investigative and exploration opportunities.
Impact
In our exceptional Early Years, we create an environment where every child feels a strong sense of belonging and is supported to develop and thrive, growing into happy and confident learners. By fostering a warm, inclusive and enriching learning experience for all children. Our strong relationships with families are built from the outset; our partnership ensures each individual child excels and has a lifelong love for learning. Our GLD outcomes at the end of Early Years are consistently, significantly above national, demonstrating that our children develop the foundational knowledge and skills needed to flourish and excel as they move into Key Stage 1 and beyond.
