Design Technology
Ambition
At Pineham Barns, it is our aim that our Design and Technology curriculum will enable our children to apply their learning from other areas of the curriculum to develop, create and build their skills in the area of Design and Technology. Through an engaging and challenging curriculum, we hope to inspire enthusiasm and future interests.
Implementation
Our Design and Technology curriculum is progressive, building each year to utilise previous knowledge and skills to support our pupil’s new skills. Skills and knowledge in the subject are broken down into the key processes used in DT:
- Developing, planning and communicating ideas
- Working with tools, equipment, materials and components to make quality products
- Evaluating processes and products
As a new school, we are incredibly fortunate to have a DT room which we take full advantage of, ensuring that our children are also provided with key cookery skills. Through our curriculum, we equip them with the knowledge and skills to fully understand health and well-being.
Impact
Through our curriculum, we aim for our children to leave primary school equipped with key life skills and an understanding of the key processes including the foundations of cookery. Through the experiences and opportunities on offer, we provide our children with the enthusiasm and curiosity for the next phase of their education.
