Languages
At Pineham Barns we value the role of languages at our school, as we believe it prepares pupils for the opportunities and experiences in later life.
Ambition
It is our ambition that from an early age, we provide the children with learning experiences which engage their love for modern foreign languages and heighten their curiosity. We also believe that it is important to teach our children about the wonders of different countries that they are exploring through their learning, so that they continually demonstrate respect and tolerance of different cultures.
Implementation
Teaching languages is a skill, and therefore our teachers are supported by experts through a language programme which supports the Key Stage One and Two curriculum. Through the progressive curriculum that we provide, our pupils are provided with the relevant skills, knowledge and understanding through a practical and engaging approach.
Impact
Through the experiences that we provide our children with, they are provided with the foundations to begin to learn other languages. Perhaps more importantly, they have an understanding and curiosity of other cultures, which will undoubtedly prepare them for later life.
